The self-proclaimed nut of Vacaville has a big job. Vacaville’s Public Information Officer Mark Mazzaferro manages the city’s website, Twitter account, Facebook page, creates YouTube videos, sends out press releases, manages the government TV station, overlooks Vacaville’s emergency radio and a lot more.

Mazzaferro has been with the city of Vacaville for five years, but has worked as a PIO for 12.

Sutter Tracy to hold Children's Health & Safety Fair May 21

TRACY – The popular Children’s Health and Safety Fair is set for Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital (STCH), 1420 NorthTracy Boulevard. Annually STCH, a Sutter Health affiliate, provides more than 5,000 attendees with valuable health screenings, information and family fun, including the popular rock wall.

Attendees will experience a wealth of information and resources; with over 50 booths and exhibits from community health agencies, California Highway Patrol and the Fire Department.

John Muir elementary students to receive bike helmets in honor of Amgen

MODESTO - On Friday, May 6 at 2 p.m., more than 400 bicycle helmets and education curriculum booklets will be given to students at John Muir Elementary School (1215 Lucern Avenue) during a school assembly for the 2011 Amgen Tour of California Stage 3 Finish in Modesto.

City of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department staff will talk to students about the 2011 Amgen Tour of California (Modesto will host the Stage 3 Finish on Tuesday, May 17), the sport of cycling, helmet safety and healthy living.

The helmets were sponsored by Rabobank and the Stanislaus Bicycle Club sponsored the Education Curriculum Booklets.
