Stanislaus County Names New Director of Planning and Community Development | Community
Stanislaus County is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Freitas as the new Director of Planning and Community Development. Freitas has been serving in an interim capacity since March 2012.
“Angela brings a wealth of experience, wisdom and insight to the Planning Department,” stated Monica Nino, Chief Executive Officer. “She has been instrumental in providing guidance for the Department of Planning and Community Development in important high-profile projects, areas of planning, grant administration and redevelopment.”
The department is a unique organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of the public health, safety and welfare of the people of Stanislaus County. The department assures compliance with state planning laws, promotes economic development, assists in diversification of the County's economic base, and promotes and enhances the agricultural base and economy. The department also strives to provide a fair, high quality, streamlined permit processing to all of the its customers.
Freitas has been an employee of the Stanislaus County Planning Department since 1999. She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and served as an intern in the County’s Planning Department in 1998. She was raised on a small family farm in the Modesto area and attended both Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College. She was promoted to Deputy Director of the Planning Department in January of 2008 and appointed Interim Director in March of 2012. Her work with the County has been focused on Planning, Community Development and Redevelopment.
