DUI Arrests Up

The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 12 DUI deployments during the past several days in Stanislaus County.

From 12:01 AM Friday December 14, 2012 through Midnight Monday December 31, 2012 officers representing 12 county law enforcement agencies have so far reported the arrest of 122 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  In 2011 115 DUI arrests occurred during the 2012 holiday campaign time period.

For the final night of the campaign all regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their normal shifts through the weekend and the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />CHP are deploying all available officers for their Maximum Enforcement Period ending midnight tonight.  There are no special operations planned until Super Bowl Sunday.  

Multiple DUI Driver’s License Checkpoints, Multi Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols were part of this region-wide crackdown during the 19 day Winter Holiday Campaign.  DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight tonight, Tuesday, January 1, 2013. 

The Avoid the 12 Taskforce will again deploy DUI operations and Patrols during Super Bowl Sunday February 2, 2013.  Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
