2 arrested in Craigslist armed robbery in Ceres | Crime
CERES, CA - Two men were taken into custody Thursday in connection with the armed robbery of a Ceres man who answered a Craigslist ad to buy a car.
The robbery took place Wednesday about 6 p.m. At Walnut and Central Avenue, said Carissa Higginbotham, spokeswoman for the Ceres Police Department. The buyer wasn't hurt but his wallet, cash and stereo equipment were taken.
Thursday, officers conducted a traffic stop at Service and Mitchell on the suspected robbers' vehicle. Jesus Diaz Jr., 32 of Ceres was in the vehicle. Officers also located another vehicle in the area and Noah De La Rosa, 19, of Modesto was in that car. Both men were detained for questioning in the robbery case.
Higginbotham said officers found Ecstasy pills from Del La Rosa.
Officers then served a search warrant at Diaz' residence where they seized an assault weapon and a handgun that matched the descriptions provided by the robbery victim, Higginbotham said. Officers also recovered the victim's stolen property at the home, she said.
Police also reported confiscating one pound of marijuana during the search.
Diaz was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Jail on conspiracy, robbery, being a felon with a prior weapons offense in possession of a firearm, possession of an assault weapon charges and various vehicle code violations. De La Rosa was arrested and booked on robbery, conspiracy, possession of Ecstasy, and possession of an assault weapon charges.
