MODESTO, CA - A man who went outside his Modesto home to see why his dogs were barking was jumped and robbed by two men with guns just after midnight, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

The incident took place on the 1700 block of South Carpenter Road.

Sheriff's Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said when the victim's wife came outside to help her husband, the armed men forced the couple inside. The husband was attacked and threatened if he did not give the robbers money. The men left with money.

The victims described the men as white and both 6 feet tall. They reported one was skinny and other weighed around 250 pounds.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious around 12:26 a.m. in the area of the 1700 block of South Carpenter Road was asked to contact the sheriff's office at (209) 525-7114. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
