Children between the ages of 4 and 12 can participate in In-N-Out Burger’s reading promotion program between March 2 and April 13. Children can participate by signing up at any Stanislaus County Library branch and keeping a list of books read on a reading log. Once children have read five books at their reading level they will receive a certificate for a free hamburger or cheeseburger. Participants will be limited to three certificates while supplies last.

Join the Modesto Library Children’s Department for the Mineral and Fossil Show on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. During this program, children will have the opportunity to learn about various rocks, minerals, and fossils and have their geology questions answered after the show during the question and answer session. This program is designed for school-aged children, but all ages are welcome. Free tickets will be available in the Children’s Department one hour before the show.

A representative from H&R Block will be speaking about taxes at the Modesto Library on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. This free talk will highlight new tax law changes, of which all taxpayers should be aware. The topics of dependents and Earned Income Tax Credits will also be discussed.
