Modesto celebrates Independence Day with a parade

Modesto residents can stay local and celebrate Independence Day at the 148th Annual Fourth of July Celebration, a fun-filled tradition since 1874.

The Downtown parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of 10th and F streets. This year’s parade theme is “America the Beautiful” and is organized by the Modesto Kiwanis Club.

Texas Tornados in concert this Saturday

The Texas Tornados will be performing at The State Theatre on Saturday, June 30 at 8 p.m. The Tex_mex band includes original members Flaco Jimenex, a Grammy-winning accordion player) and Augie Meyers on the organ. Shawn Sahm will also be joining the band on the guitar and vocals.

The band will be backed by the original Tornados rhythm section.

The doors to the event open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25, $28 and $35. The State Theatre is located at 1307 J Street in Modesto.

Every Friday in May and June our News10 Meteorologist Monica Woods will broadcast the forecast LIVE from a community event in the StreetCast segment during News10 at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Voting begins Monday morning and ends Thursday at 5 p.m. 

The winner is announced in Thursday's 5 p.m.
