I know this song isn’t one of Beirut's latest, it’s from their 2007 Elephant Gun EP but it’s still one of my top 10 favorite songs.
What makes this band and their music distinct and a head of their peers is their use of eclectic instruments. The band consists of a ukulele, trumpet, accordion, piano, drums, upright bass, euphonium, trombone and the tuba.
When I first saw this list, I thought to myself, is this the checklist for the gypsy band camp? But once you hear the sounds and how all of the instruments round out to form a gorgeous mix that I like to call a “carnival orchestra,” you’ll wish that every band had an accordion and euphonium.(Don't feel shy about clicking on "euphonium," I had to look it up too.)
