Modesto girl wrestles her way onto the USA World Team

MODESTO, CA - A Modesto wrestler earned a spot on the USA National Wrestling Team.

James C. Enochs High School freshman Sariyah Jones, 14, traveled to Lakeland, Fla., to compete in the Body Bar National Freestyle Championships. The Body Bar Nationals, held March 10-12, is a World Team qualifier for women.

A first place finish earns the winner a spot on the World Team and a chance to represent the United States at the World Championships in Serbia. A second place finish is the alternate position and an opportunity to represent the United States at the PanAm games in Colombia.

Jones won her way onto the world team, having to best Makenzie Bacich, from Stockton's Bear Creek, in a best of three series in the finals. Jones won the first two matches quickly, putting aside any doubt as to who would represent the United States in the 43 kg (94.75 lbs) weight class. In fact, no one was able to score a point on her during the tournament.

A Modesto family's challenge

I have a dear Best Friend who endured a almost 3 year battle to become pregnant, in which during this time she had a surgical procedure to remove blockage in her tubes, and almost lost her life during this procedure.

When the doctor was finished and she was in recovery she began bleeding internally and ended up seizing and loss mass amounts of blood. Her blood count dropped to about a 6, and in the emergency situation they had no choice but to pump cold blood into her, which caused her to shiver uncontrollably and continue seizing.

It took her about a full month to recover from this and shortly thereafter, she was elated to find out she was pregnant. After a smooth 9 month pregnancy she gave birth to a precious Baby Boy 8lbs 7oz.
